Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This policy aims to explain clearly and succinctly what personal information we collect from subscribers of our content and users of the website, how and why we collect it, how we use it (including our use of cookies and pixels), how we secure it, and how you can control our use of your data at any time.

Information we collect.

We collect personal information from subscribers of our content (“subscribers”). This information may include your full name and e-mail address, provided by subscribers during registration to receive our free newsletter or other free content, or your full name, postal address, and credit card information (“billing information”) provided when purchasing any of our products. All of this information is provided to us directly by you during online registration for our newsletter or free content, and during the purchase of our products. We do not receive personal information from third-party sources.

We also use cookies and pixel tags (“pixels”) to help track and analyze a website user’s (“user”) session while online, including information about when and how our users use the site. Cookies are small data files that are issued to your device when you visit a website and store information about your browser or device and your use of a service. Pixels are small blocks of code embedded on websites, advertisements and emails that can retrieve certain information about your device and browser and help us learn how you interact with our content (see “Use of cookies and pixels” below, for more information).

How we use this information.

Regarding personal information provided by subscribers to Ownstream upon registration for our free newsletter or other free content, or to purchase one or more of our products, we use your full name and email address to share with you our newsletter, free content you have requested, products you have purchased, and information about Ownstream products and affiliate programs and services. We never sell, exchange or release your personal information (name, e-mail address, or billing information). Your information is not shared with any third party or company outside of our newsletter delivery service, billing and shipping partners, for the purposes described above.

Use of cookies and pixels.

We also use cookies and pixels to track and analyze how and when our users use the site. This information helps us to improve our site, its readability and usefulness to users. For example, we may use cookies to understand how users are finding and using our content, and what content is most used by users. These technologies also help us to deliver targeted advertisements on social media platforms, based on your activity on our site. The use of cookies may also be used to ensure the accuracy of our affiliate program (expected to be launched in Fall 2018).

How we secure your information.

Personal information provided by subscribers is stored at the list server that delivers our newsletter. That information can only be accessed by those who help to manage those lists in order to deliver e-mail to those who have registered for the newsletter.

Your control over our use of this information.

All of our newsletters and other emails include an unsubscribe link. You can remove yourself at any time from our newsletter and email list by clicking the unsubscribe link. Subscribers can also contact us at hi@ownstream.co to access, change or remove your personal information from our database at any time.

While any changes you make to the personal information we have collected will be reflected in active user databases immediately or within a reasonable period of time, we may retain all information needed for backups, archiving, prevention of fraud and abuse, satisfaction of legal obligations, or where we otherwise reasonably believe we have a legitimate reason to do so by law for a minimum of 7 years. We only retain personal information for as long as the user’s account is active, as long as needed to fulfill the purposes for which we initially collected it, or as required by law.

Regarding information collected by cookies, cookies are stored on your computer and not on this site, and you have the right to choose whether or not to accept them. However, cookies are an important part of how our content is delivered, so if you do choose to refuse or remove cookies, it may prevent you from using some or all of our site. If you do not wish to receive cookies, or want to be notified when they are placed, you can usually choose to set your web browser to remove or reject browser cookies. To do so, follow the instructions provided by your browser, which are usually located within the “Help” or “Preferences” menu.

For further information about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your device and how to manage and delete them, you can visit http://youradchoices.com/ and www.youronlinechoices.eu for EU visitors.

Changes to this policy.

This policy may be changed at any time at our discretion. If we should make material changes to this policy, we will notify users and subscribers on the site or by sending an email.
